How Can I use my HSA and FSA Funds to Shop SIJO?
Our team is thrilled to share that many, and soon nearly all, of our products will be certified for use with HSA and FSA funds! We’ve gotten so many questions since this program has launched, so we wanted to take a moment to break down how HSAs and FSAs work on our website.
What Are HSA and FSA Funds?
Both HSAs and FSAs allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible healthcare expenses. That means the money you contribute isn’t taxed, helping you save on everyday and unexpected medical costs.
While they sound similar, HSAs and FSAs have key differences that affect how flexible they are and who can use them. An HSA is available to individuals enrolled in a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). It’s one of the most flexible and tax-advantaged healthcare tools available. An FSA is typically offered through your employer and does not require a high-deductible health plan.
So How Can You Maximize Your HSA or FSA Funds with SIJO?
Whether you have an HSA, FSA, or both, you can apply them on SIJO items. Eligible items must have a health benefit or health related benefit and be a qualified medical expense. This is defined by the IRS as “items that treat, mitigate, or prevent a physical/mental disease or condition.” Through our partner Truemed, we have been able to include our bedding items, which help promote better sleep, something that eases many illnesses, in the program.
How to Complete Your Order with HSA or FSA Funds
1. Know What’s Eligible
Check our product collections to see which are eligible. Nearly all of our bedding products are eligible, and we hope to have all bedding items eligible soon.
2. Add Them to Your Cart
The HSA or FSA payment module, hosted by our partner Truemed, is available in your shopping cart, so be sure to add them to cart in order to ensure they’re eligible.
3. Check Out With Truemed
We offer Truemed as a payment option at checkout. You’ll see this under the Credit Card, PayPal, Google Pay options. Choose Truemed if you have a valid HSA or FSA card.
4. Complete the Eligibility Quiz to Finalize Your Purchase
There is a quick, simple quiz to check on how these products will work to promote your health. Complete this to finalize your order, and you’ll be able to enjoy better sleep, and hopefully some of the healthy benefits of sleep, with your HSA or FSA dollars!
Common Questions
We have also received many questions that we’d like to address here, including:
1. Do my HSA or FSA funds expire?
FSA funds do expire at the end of each calendar year. Some plans do offer grace periods, so please check your plan, or check in with your benefits provider. HSA funds, however, can roll over each year.
2. Can I pay for healthcare expenses for other people in my household?
Funds can be used by the policy holder. Spouses and dependents (such as children) are typically also able to utilize these benefits, but this may depend on your own individual plan or policy.
3. How are SIJO products eligible?
We have partnered with Truemed, which helps brands with products that meet the qualifying criteria for medical expenses or medical related expenses create programs on their website. Sleep is important to health and for alleviating symptoms of many ailments. The testing of our materials, which prove their benefits, particularly for asthma and allergy friendliness, also contribute to our eligibility.
4. Which SIJO items qualify?
At this time, nearly all of our bedding qualifies. Our AiryWeight collection, including the textiles, comforters, and mattress protectors all qualify, as do our LuxeWeave collection, all of our pillows, and all of our other top-of-bed products. We hope to have all items qualify soon.
5. Why do I have to fill out a form through Truemed at checkout?
This form shows medical necessity, and proves how our bedding items may ease your symptoms, help benefit your health, or otherwise be a qualifying medical expense. It is critical to us that those using their HSA or FSA funds are doing so correctly, and this form helps our partner understand the prospective medical benefit or need.
