Common Questions
How does using my HSA/FSA account save me money?
HSA and FSA accounts are funded with pre-tax dollars, which means you effectively pay less for eligible products. For example, if you’re in the 30% tax bracket and spend $100 from your HSA/FSA, it only cost you $70 in pre-tax income — a 30% savings.
What are FSA and HSA accounts?
A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) are both tax-advantaged accounts that let you set aside pre-tax money for eligible health-related purchases. FSA funds typically must be used within the plan year, while HSA funds roll over indefinitely.
Can I use my HSA/FSA at SIJO?
Yes! Through our partnership with Truemed, eligible SIJO products can be purchased using HSA or FSA funds. Simply select the Truemed option at checkout and complete a brief health assessment to confirm eligibility.
Can I use my regular credit card at checkout?
Yes. If you don’t have your HSA/FSA card handy, you can pay with any credit card and Truemed will provide a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) for you to submit to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement.
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity, and how is this compliant?
A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is a document issued by a licensed healthcare provider confirming that a purchase is medically necessary. Truemed’s licensed providers review your brief health survey and issue your LMN, which meets IRS guidelines for HSA/FSA reimbursement.
Are there fees associated with using Truemed’s services?
No, there are no additional fees to use Truemed at SIJO checkout. The service is provided at no extra cost to customers.
When should I use my FSA/HSA dollars?
FSA funds typically expire at the end of your plan year, so it’s a good idea to use them before they expire. HSA funds roll over year to year. Either way, now is a great time to invest your pre-tax health dollars in better sleep.
How long does it take for me to receive my Letter of Medical Necessity?
Most customers receive their LMN within minutes to a few hours after completing the health assessment. In some cases it may take up to 1 business day.
I don’t have an HSA/FSA. Can I still benefit from Truemed?
Currently, the Truemed program is designed for customers with existing HSA or FSA accounts. Check with your employer about FSA benefits, or look into opening an HSA if you have a qualifying high-deductible health plan.
I don’t live in the US. Can I still get reimbursed with Truemed?
At this time, Truemed’s reimbursement program is available to US residents only, as it is based on IRS-regulated HSA and FSA accounts.
