Journaling is a positive and soothing activity that brings calm in many situations. You may have checked out our post on late night journaling, or this might be something new that you're looking to try.
Daily Journal Prompts For The Week
We have a few journal prompts to help you get started writing, and to bring a more mindful approach to what you write in your journal.
Prompt 1: Gratitude Journaling
Write down one difficult aspects of your day and follow with five things you're grateful for and why.
Prompt 2: Reflection Journaling
Pick a component of your day and week, and write down why it was meaningful you, who was with you, and what you did.
Prompt 3: Emotion Journaling
Select 3-5 adjectives that describe how this situation is making you feel. Then, expand on why you are having those feelings for one paragraph. Each adjective/feeling should have its own paragraph.
Prompt 4: List Journaling
Lists are a great way to clear your mind. For reflection and calming, make a list of 25 things that make you smile, or 25 things you love.
Prompt 5: '20 Minutes'
Simply write anything that's on your mind for 20 straight minutes. Include any "ums" or "likes." Anything you're thinking as you think it. This is a great way to clear your mind or to spark new ideas you may not have thought you had.
These are prompts you can rotate through, or practice daily to stay positive and mindful. The journey of writing in and of itself is meditative, and can certainly bring a sense of calm to your day and night.
