How To Create Bedtime Rituals For Adults: Get Better Sleep
Why is creating a bedtime ritual important as an adult?
It is widely known that getting a good night’s sleep is crucial for both our physical and mental health. But what comes as a surprise to most people is that what you do before falling asleep can actually effect that quality of your sleep!
Tips for creating a bedtime ritual as an adult
Today, we’re bringing you some bedtime rituals that you can follow before nodding off so you can release the day’s tensions and anxieties, while also helping you fall asleep quicker and deeper.
Our 4 favorite bedtime rituals for adults
1: Indulge in Aromatherapy
We’ve mentioned in a few of our blogs that aromatherapy has a plethora of wellness benefits. Two of the most notable are the reduction of anxiety and the ability to induce sleep. The easiest ways to enjoy aromatherapy in your bedroom before bed is to use essential oils with a diffuser. Research a ceramic diffuser and drop your favorite essential oils into the diffuser. And voila! Bring on the calm! A calming combination that we recommend is lavender and vanilla.
2: Stay Hydrated
There is nothing like a hot cup of tea before bed! Plus, it will help you stay hydrated while you’re sleeping. The hot water will increase your blood circulation, while also helping your body rid itself of any unwanted toxins while you sleep. Talk about a win-win!
Research has shown that lavender tea can induce a calming effect to improve your sleep and decrease your blood pressure, heart rate, and skin temperature.
Some other herbal teas that you can drink before bed to get the calming effect would be passionflower, soothing turmeric tea, and loose leaf chamomile tea, as they all calm and soothe the nervous system.
3: Limit Screen-time Before Bed
Blue lighthas a huge negative impact if you’re exposed to it before bed because it sends mixed signals to your brain which directly puts your circadian rhythm out of sync. #NotGood
You’ll reap so many benefits if you remember to turn off all screens at least 30 minutes prior to going to sleep. This will help your body wind down. If you still feel restless, try to give yourself time to meditate, read a chapter in a book, or listen to some calming music!
4: Invest in Your Sheets
Splurging on your bedding is more important than you think. A comfy bed to lay in with the highest quality sheets is one of the most important aspects to getting a great night’s sleep. Of course we recommend that you invest in our luxury bedding without the markup.
Luxury linen bedding is breathable like a second skin. Fairtrade organic French flax linen keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. Not only that butour linen is pre-washed with pumice stones which abrade the fabric to get that slightly faded, relaxed and effortless look. Stonewashing also loosens the weave of the fabric and increases the softness and flexibility.
Getting into bed has never felt so good!
